Montessori activities to be done at home(Part 2)

Activity name: states of matter
Tools: silicone tablecloth- tray- A cup of water- wooden cube- balloon- Three cards on each the words (solid, liquid, gas) are written.
Objective: To identify the states of matter (solid, liquid, and gas).
Age: from (5-4) years and over.
Steps:

Put the silicon tablecloth on the table with the tools on it.

Tell the child that we are about to learn states of matter activity.

Put the first card on which (hard) is written and say (hard) with referring to the card.

Put the second card on which the word (liquid) is written and say (liquid) while referring to the card.

Put the third card on which the word (gas) is written and say (gas) while referring to the card.

Hold the wooden cube and tell the child that this is a solid and let him hold it, then put it under the card (solid) and say: “a cube is solid”.

Hold the cup of water and say while referring to the cup (water means liquid) and put the cup under the card (liquid) and say (water is liquid).

Inflate the balloon and show the child the air coming out of it and say (the air in the balloon is called gas) and put the balloon under the (gas) card.

Repeat the three stages of the lesson (solid, liquid, gas). Review all the cards one last time in front of the child and say (solid, liquid, gas).

Ask the child to refer to the gas → and the child refers to the last card.

Ask the child to refer to the liquid → the child refers the middle card.

Ask the Child to refer to the solid → and the child refers to the first card.

Refer to card (3) and ask the child: what is this? The child answers → Gas.

Refer to card (2) and ask the child what is this? The child says → liquid.

Refer to card (1) and ask the child what is this? The child says → Solid.

Collect the cards and the tablecloth and put the tools on the shelf, then say to the child: “Now it is your turn.”

Repeat the three stages of the lesson (solid, liquid, gas). Review all the cards one last time in front of the child and say (solid, liquid, gas).

Ask the child to refer to the gas → and the child refers to the last card.

Ask the child to refer to the liquid → The child refers the middle card.

Ask the Child to refer to the solid → and the child refers to the first card.

Refer to card (3) and ask the child: what is this? the child answers → Gas.

Refer to card (2) and ask the child what is this? The child says → liquid.

Refer to card (1) and ask the child what is this? Child → Solid.

Collect the cards and the tablecloth and put the tools on the shelf, then say to the child: “Now it is your turn.”
