Bishop Paula toured several European countries, including Italy and Switzerland, and studied advanced experiences in rehabilitating and integrating the heroes of Down syndrome into society. Then, he began to form a working group to assist him and transferred his various experiences in this field to it. Everyone began to seek one goal, which is to provide service worthy of human being and to present Egypt as a world pioneer in community work.
In this pioneering experience, Bishop Paula was ready with years of experience in various fields, starting with his scientific studies. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Geology in 1974, and after that he was appointed as a researcher at the National Research Center.
After that, he became a Monk in Monastery of Baramus in 1976, and got promoted in Church service until he became the Metropolitan of Tanta and its dependencies in November 2018.
Bishop Paula held many important positions that widened his great experiences and had prominent additions in each of these positions. He held the position of President of the General Parochial Council of personal status for Egyptian and non-Egyptian Coptic Orthodox inside and outside Egypt since March 1989. Then, he held the position of the president of the Parochial Council of Asia and Australia until 6/30/2018.
He was appointed supervisor of the Church of Bishop Abram in Brighton, England, since 2003 until now, and he also holds the position of Director of the Seminary in Tanta. Bishop Paula also lectures at seminaries in (Cairo – Alexandria – New Jersey – Frankfurt, Germany – Vienna, Austria – Paris, France – Kuwait), in addition to the Institute of Care in Cairo and the Institute of Coptic Studies in Cairo.
Bishop Paula was chosen as a representative of the Coptic Church in the Constituent Assembly in 2012; he was also chosen as a member of the Committee of the Fifty of the Constitution in 2013, and he had the largest role in issuing the first law in the history of Egypt for the construction and restoration of churches, which was approved by a presidential decree on September 28, 2016 after approval by the House of Representatives. In addition, Bishop Paula has many published literature, which contributed to enriching various scientific fields.
Bishop Paula believes that the Egyptian state has already entered a new era of development and prosperity under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and that the next stage will witness an economic and social boom in which everyone must participate and do their best to serve this country.
He always stresses that the government alone will not be able to implement everything so everyone should support it. He also stresses that society as a whole should cooperate in achieving various economic and social goals, which is the approach that Bishop Paula followed when he thought of establishing Al-Folk project and turning the idea into a huge project on the ground.
