The abstract artist Charlie French with Down syndrome works in his art studio almost daily, and his commitment to his profession is evident when watching his beautiful, calm paintings. Charlie was born in New York and has lived in the United States and abroad. While living and studying in London, a teacher noticed Charlie’s innate awareness of color theory and composition, which encouraged Charlie and his parents to support and develop his artistic passion.
Charlie creates wonderful abstract works using his imagination and brings joy to his paintings. When asked about his hobby, he replied, “I love colors and shapes and paint a lot. Sometimes I don’t think about anything, I just have fun.” This is the key to Charlie’s success, his experience is fundamentally positive and therapeutic. The time he spends in the studio is great and fills Charlie with energy and joy. Charlie’s paintings reflect the joy of his imagination, share a portion of his happiness with the world, and make his life meaningful.
