Jacob Barnett was born in the United States in 1998 as a normal kid, until about two-year-old Jacob suddenly stopped speaking and was not making eye contact with others. Teachers and doctors told his parents that he would never be an active member of society as they found out that Jake had Asperger’s syndrome.
Jacob’s mother, Christine, did not lose hope in her son, gave him all the support he needed and never tried to force him to be like normal children.
Therapy sessions were disappointing to Kristen (his mother) as Jacob could not speak at all.
She soon reached a point where she decided to take matters into her control rather than relying on Jacob’s medical treatment. She decided to and leave him to his unique nature.
The mother conducted sessions with her son herself. Starting from puzzles and pictures to algebraic formulas. Jake seemed fascinated by astrology, planets, and space, so his mother decided to take him to the planetarium to see Mars through a telescope.
At the age of eight, Jake mastered mathematics; and at the age of thirteen, he became a sophomore and attended honors classes in mathematics and physics, while also conducting scientific research and teaching fellow students. At the age of 15, he received his master’s degree at the Waterloo Institute for Theoretical Physics and is now a doctoral student at the same institute. Jacob said that autism was the reason why he became a successful person in college. Jacob is said to have an IQ of 170, which is higher than Einstein!
