Salma El-Tabbakh, 37 years old, a trainer in skills development and behavior modification
Salma succeeded in enrolling in school and successfully completed her education until she obtained her secondary school certificate, after which she obtained a diploma in social work from Alexandria University. Salma volunteered in many charities for 10 years, and faced rejection from employers who didn’t allow her to show her capabilities and skills.
Salma received several training courses in the areas of mental disabilities, hearing impairment, autism, and sign language. In 2014, she joined the Center of Excellence after its manager was convinced of her abilities and skills, to work in the center as a behavior modification and skills development coach.
Salma became a self-advocate and advocated for her rights and the rights of people with special needs. She was nominated as a member of Inclusion and participated in a self-advocacy conference in Birmingham, England in 2018, which called for the inclusion of children with special needs in mainstream schools.
Salma was nominated to become a representative of the Inclusion Organization to attend the Bridge training on the international agreement and the sustainable development goals for the Middle East and North Africa region in Cairo. In 2019, she trained self-advocacy advocates from several Arab countries on self-advocacy.
