Down syndrome is a condition in which an individual is born with an extra chromosome, which is chromosome number 21. This extra genetic material changes the course of life for whom it occurs, and negatively affects the cognitive and physical aspects. The effect ranges from moderate to severe, and despite that, we find many people with this syndrome and have succeeded in paving their way to success and fame in an impressive manner that gives motivation to every family that God’s will gave them a son or daughter with Down syndrome. In today’s article, we will learn about some non-Egyptian or Arab celebrities who suffer from Down syndrome; and in the next article we will learn about some Down’s heroes from our dear country, Egypt.
1 – Lauren Potter
Actress Lauren Potter is one of the most famous actors with Down syndrome, born May 10, 1990, is an American actress, best known for her role as “Becky Jackson” on a popular TV show. Potter works as an advocate for people with special needs through organizations including AbilityPath and Best Buddies International, Down Syndrome Association, American Association of Persons with Disabilities
2 – Luke Zimmerman
Luke Zimmerman has had many roles, but his biggest role was in 2007 when he co-starred in the ABC Family series The Secret Life of the American Teenager as Tom Bowman, the older brother adopted by Grace, and also guest starred in Glee in the episode “Movin’ Out.” year 2013.
3 – Jimmy Brewer
Born on February 5, 1985, Jamie is an American actress, best known for her roles in the television series (American Horror Story). Brewer grew up loving all forms of the arts, especially movies and theater. She began taking theater lessons in 1999 in a class at Kids College. During her middle school years, she performed in stage shows, comedies and many improvisations during her stage training at the Dionysus Theatre. Brewer continues her stage training through Groundlings Theater and School.
4 – Tommy Jessup
Jessup is one of the stars of BBC Three’s Growing Up Down’s. This documentary follows three actors with Down syndrome as Blue Apple Theater produce Shakespeare’s most challenging play Hamlet. Jessup also starred alongside Nicholas Hoult in Coming Down the Mountain, and has worked regularly for British television since 2007.
5 – Chris Burke
Burke serves as a Goodwill Ambassador for the National Down Syndrome Society, has long roles in Hollywood in films such as Mona Lisa Smile and TV series such as ER and Touched by Angel, has traveled the world representing the NDSS since 1994, and has used his famous personality to raise awarenedd, increase education and connect About Down Syndrome.
