“Ibrahim El-Khouly”… the first Egyptian teaching assistant with “Down Syndrome”!

“Let me hold up, and if I can’t, help me try.” This is how Ibrahim Al-Khouli summed up his success story in front of the world in a speech he delivered in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi when he was honored as the first Egyptian teaching assistant with special abilities “Down Syndrome”.

Ibrahim, who is currently 25 years old, succeeded in completing his studies at the Media Institute of the Canadian Higher Institute (CIC), and upon his graduation in 2019 he was appointed as a teaching assistant at the institute. He entered his first lecture, to prove to everyone that we all have the chances of success, but we may need support, Motivation and a smile that could facilitate the long way!

Ibrahim Al-Khouli’s first lecture were in the subject of “Theatrical Criticism”, with the attendance of about 40 students.. In such lecture, he explained the method of criticizing films and various artistic works, and he excelled in his experience and impressed everyone with the level he presented.

Education was not the only success story of “Ibrahim”! He was able to achieve athletic excellence by winning medals in tennis, and his first international tournament was in 2008 in Italy, in which he won two silver medals. Then he was chosen to carry the Olympic torch during the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics World Cup in Tennis which was held in November, 2018 in the Dominican Republic.

Iman Wali, Ibrahim’s mother, says that he had great determination that pushed us to support him and stand by him until he fulfilled his dream.

Ibrahim is one of tens … hundreds…. thousands of people with special capabilities and are waiting for support.
